Abstract
This paper describes an Internet based system of leaming which could improve the learning productivity dramatically in the course, the History of the Turkish Revolution (HTR). The paper describes firstly, some basic concepts about the Internet and its development in the world and in Turkey; and its use in teaching in general and in history teaching in particular. Secondly, a case study is presented in order to demonstrate how such a system could improve learning productivity. Lastly, the paper presents a topology of a system which would make it possible to carry out such a learning and teaching activity together with some ideas about restructuring of the Institutes of HTR to enable them to perform the new functions required of them in the system. The paper concludes that a full implementation of the system would mean a revolution in teaching of HTR and this would lead, as a by product, to a widespread use of information technologies in Turkey, which in itself would be an important development.
