Abstract

The Battle of Çanakkale, firstly including the sea warfare and subsequently the land fightings, it is more than ordinary war. Strategically, the Dardenelles was not only the key of the capital of Ottoman Empire and but also it was an important strait that connects the two connects to each other. For this reason, the Battle of Çanakkale actually was aiming to hold the Dardenelles and İstanbul. Because of this strategical importance of Çanakkale, the government was not only struggling maneouvre defensive steps but also to take preventive measures for İstanbul, in case of İstanbul to be invanded by the allied powers, one of the preventive measures of the government was shifting the capital to Eskişehir or Konya city.
