Abstract

At the Paris conference, the decision was made to occupy Izmir on 12 May 1919 by the Council of the four. Admiral Calthorpe informed the Turks about the invasion decision about 10 hours ago because of the German decision by this board. The reason for the late notification of the decision to the Turks is to give the Turks little time and to prevent a possible resistance.
