Abstract

In the history of the Republic of Turkey, with the abolition of the caliphate on March 3, 1924, the administration was excluded from the principles of theocracy. However, the clause "the religion of the state is Islam" was left in the 1924 Constitution. In 1928, this phrase in the Constitution was also abolished. In 1937, it was stated in the Constitution that the Republic of Turkey was a secular state. The Republic of Turkey has entered a new era by abolishing the caliphate. Great Atatürk was a leader who knew the history of islam very well.
