Abstract

Atatürk has visited the city of Aydın and its districts four times in his life. His vısits in 1924 and 1937 were due to militarial practices. In his third visit in 1937, he opened Sümerbank Calico Factory (Sümerbank Basma Fabrikası) that made a great change both in Nazilli and in the social and economic structure of the Republic of Turkey. Even though his 1930 visit that was to examine the effects of World economic crisis in Western Anatolia, and his 1931 journey that was planned as a result of Free Republican Party (Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası) and Menemen Events, were sorts of a trip, they were important for their results. In his each visit, great dedicated and excited crowds met him. His speeches, made during his visits in Aydın and its districts, his desires and wishes were steps into the aim of the creation a modem Turkey.

Abstract
