Abstract

The struggle for existence of Turkish nation in the time of Turkish War of Independence has finished with foundation of Turkey Republic by the leadership of Mustafa Kemal. On 29 October 1923, it was proclaimed that the new country's regime will be a republic. This was accepted by the majority of the Turkish people. One of the most important indications of that is the enthusiasm of the people for 29 October celebrations which became a national holiday from 1924 onwards. But on some occasions, the reforms which were put into action in a very short time, caused social reactions. Those reactions brought up concerns about the future of the Turkish Republic. But people's enthusiasm and great excitement during the celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the republic showed that those concerns were out of place. This paper will examine the celebraitons of tenth anniversary of the republic and the event that was named as The Case of Comuzade in the press.
