Epidemic Diseases in Antalya (1894-1922)

Abstract
Antalya is a city which is adequate to diseases because of its physical conditions and being on trade roads. Especially important diseases occured at the end of XIX. century in Antalya. Epidemic diseases occured in Antalya as cholera, typhus, smallpox, malaria and plague. Epidemic diseases in Antalya occured at the places where people lived crowdedly and spread in a short time, mostly in the places which were not suitable for health conditions. When an epidemic disease danger occured, city administration cooperated with central administration and took health precautions, execute cleaning conditions and quarantined locally, land or sea trade roads. A lot of people died, important events happened in trade life and damaged state materially as the result of epidemic diseases in Antalya. So epidemic diseases caused personal, social and economical losts which are impossible to put back.
