Abstract

Liberalism is a though that appeared in the modern age and affected to the world widely. Addition to this, liberalism is an opinion that challenges to intervene public opinion to the economic, social, religious life. In the modern age liberalism was tried to be defended by the New Ottomans and Young Turks who were educated in Europe. Although liberalism was a model of political and economical modernization in the first decade of 20th century, it could not solve Ottoman's economical and political needs. Because of the fact that Ottoman liberal thinkers were not to take into consideration that there was any entrepreneurial class in the Ottoman land. However Committee of Union and Progress pursued a realistic course and tried to make national bourgeoisie itself. Centralization state system of Committee of Union and Progress was transferred to the Republic of Turkey with effort to make Turkish bourgeoisie as a heritage. Although in the first decade of Republic of Turkey there were many liberal polities, faces, parties, movements, liberalism was accepted uselessly in the periof of building a new Turkish nation then it had lost effect in Turkey for a long time.
