Abstract

This study aims at investigating the substential and invaluable activities of Hamdullah Suphi Tanrİover, who was one of the prominent statesman and savants of the republican era since he was appointed to the Bucharest Embassy in 1931. He gained the admiration and trust of the Romenian political circles with his deep knowledge in history, his intelligence and good communication skills. This enabled him to establish cultural connections between Romenian Turks and Turkey, which is in conformity with Ataturk's Policy of culture within the frame of his principles and revolutions. During his good offices, he ensured the security and well-being of the Christian Gagaus Turks, provided facilities of education, helped them gain their historical origin and ties which çan also be called historical consciousness, Hamdullah Suphi Tanriover furthered his efforts to have them to settle into Thracia region of Turkey, which unfortunately failed due to the wold war II.This article is concerned wİth his life and work during his offices in the Bucharest Embassy.
