Abstract

Turkey had to fight on fronts in the west and east against invading States and their Colobarators. There were captive Soldiers from each warring siders on there fronts. During the war some treaties ensured the release of most of the captives of war except the Greek Soldiers.The Greek captives of war were held at captive camps where they had to serve for the army till their release within the framework of the treaty for the exchange of the captives of war. The treaty was signed during negotiotions in Lauscanna. This study aims to elarify the truth in Greek Red Cross' claim that the Greek captives of war were maltreated in very squalid cönditİons. To make the issue clear, the study anlarges on the visit by Bıimier-Burckhardt commitie commisioned by the Greek red Cross and their report on the issue.
