Abstract

This study examines the effects of Atatürk, founder of modern Turkey, and his reforms as reflected in Egyptian press. Based on the reports of some newspapers the effects of these reorms, on Egyptians, in 1920s and 1930s in Turkey are investigated. Although the reforms carried out by Atatürk were generally as pozİtİve in the papers investigated, there were eriticisms as well on certain issues. Further, we tıied to uncover how these fundamental changes set an example or Egyptians as well as the reactions by Muslims İn general against the process of westernization and secularization that took place in Turkey.
