Abstract
Having opened on September 12, 1924 after the closing of Amele Birliği (Labour Union), Amele Teali Cemiyeti (The Society of Exalting and Ennobling Labourers) emerged as one of the most effective and powerful labour organizations of the early Republican period. From its year of establishment to its closing date of 1928, this society took several steps for labourers. By centering on Amele Teali Cemiyeti, this study aims to examine the labour activities of the period and Ankara's approach to labour force in the earliest phase of the early Republican period with a historical approach on the basis of media-government relations over the example of Cumhuriyet newspaper.
