Abstract

The National Straggle was realised in a very difficult period of Tur- kish history: The Anatolian people were very tired of endless wars. Some hodjas, muftis, and sheiks had an important role in encouraging Anatolian people to take part on the side of national strugle, to organize and to es- tablish national societies against the foreign occupation of Anatolia. They also established national societies at almost every place of Anatolia during 1919 and 1920. They worked for the national independence under the le- adership of Atatürk. By meetings, correspondings, sending letters of cong- ragulations, and honouring, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk managed to get their support. He also showed his appreciation in several ways in order to ac- hive more public credit.
