Abstract

When the trend of the Turkish history researched it has been seen that there is a movement from east to west. This movement starts from Central Asia to İran and Anatolia then towards to Balkans and Central Europa. İt might be thought that this movement bases on political and economical reasons. When the movement expanded tovvards the west, the economical opportunities obtained in those countries relieved the existing Turkish State. Today the bilateral relations between Turkey and European Union can be considered in the same context. The economical benefits gained from this union will relieve Turkey socialy and economicaly. On the cont- rary, an integrated Europe will form a great threat for Turkey both in regilion (Crusader Mentality) and national (Orient Problem) aspects. Turkey should take necessary precautions for these threats coming form Europe. One of these precautions will be the integration of Turkey to the European Union. The integration of Turkey to the European Union will be fa- vourable to the trend of Turkish history.
