Abstract

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the great leader, collected many books in various subjects and languages since his early years as a student. These books, including the ones written by himself, are kept in The Anıtkabir Special Library and re öpen to public visit. This library contains 3123 books, basically on history, laıiguage and literatüre. However, the total amount of his books is 7338, including the various copies of the sum of 4433 volumes. The books are heavily in Turkish and French. The great leader read most of them and used thc'rn for his studies and practises, to realize the re-structuring of the country. Besides, he shared these books with his friends, companions and people with whom he was closely interested in. Some of these books were gifted to above-mentioned people by Atatürk; these people we allovvcd to use the books in their specfİc studies. Prof. Dr. Afet înan, who had close companionship wİth Atatürk, was among those people. The present study discussed and gives detailed information about the books which belonged to Atatürk, but carried into Prof. Dr. Afet İnan's colletion.
