Abstract

The aim of this study titled “Bulgarian Archives for Modern Day Research” is to provide guidance to researchers who will conduct research on the Balkan Wars and the First World War on how to make use of the archives and libraries in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. This guidance will be provided by drawing a road map through the Institute of Balkan Studies and Tracology Center Library (Институт за Балканстика), the Bulgarian Cyrillic and Methodius National Library (Национална Библиотека Св. Св. Кирил и Методий) and the Bulgarian State Archives (Държавна Агенция “Архиви”) located in the capital Sofia. First of all, it would be a good first step to recommend a short and easy visit to the above-mentioned libraries and archives via their web addresses in the framework of the necessity of today’s technological age and the changing methodological processes of researchers. The website addresses of the above-mentioned institutions are as follows: Институт за Балканстика с Център по Тракология (Institute of Balkan Studies and Trachology Center Library) at: https:// www.balkanstudies.bg/bg/; Bulgarian Cyrillic and Methodist National Library (Нацинална Библиотека Св. Св. Кирил и Методий) available at: https://www.nationallibrary.bg/www/; Bulgarian State Archives (Държавна Агенция “Архиви”) available at: https://www.archives. government.bg/. Digital catalogs and digital images of archival materials can be accessed from the relevant web addresses. From this point of view, information about “Bulgaria and Turkish-Bulgarian Relations in the First World War” is given in the first part of the study with the documents and sources obtained from the aforementioned archives and libraries.
