Abstract

The elementary education and its quality problem which has an indispensable importance in societies' development is started to be discussed in Turkey beginning from the Second Constitutionalist Period. In order to make social development, the contents of the courses in primary schools were altered and the courses were assigned to have different missions. After the proclamation of the Turkish Republic, in this area different arrangements were made and it was aimed to bring up citizens who would protect republic's gains with the newly prepared curriculums. By the help of Science of Life and Nature Courses which were added to 1926 Elementary Schools Curriculum Programs and the contents of which were changed, it was desired to bring up elementary schools pupils as healthy, aware of the realities of their own country, economical individuals of the future.
