"Milne Line" in the War of Independence

Abstract

After the invasion of Izmir, the Allies recognized the area extending from Aydın to the south, Aydın to Nazilli in the south-east, to Manisa and Turgutlu in the east and north-east, and Ayvalık and Bergama in the north. In order to occupy this area, the Greek forces' advance from İzmir to Anatolia was subjected to the resistance of the National Forces and the Greek forward operation was stopped on the Millennium on November 3.
