Abstract

This study İs concemed with the memories of Uryanizade Ali Vahid Efendi who accompanied to the travel of a scholarly delegation which consisted of Arabs who were selected from Lebanon, Palestine and Syria, and sent to the Çanakkale Front. Uryanizade Ali Vahid Efendi has written whatever he has seen, felt and thought in views of his feelings, frankly and with an intensive sentimentality, in this travel taking place between the dates of the 18th and 23rd of October 1915. The travel of Arab scholarly delegation has been organized with the will of Cemal Pasha who was the Commander of the 4th Army in Syria. The aim of this travel was to reveal the reality of Çanakkale and also to show baseless negative accusations made against the success of the Turkish Army in Çanakkale by the English. The delegation has first welcomed in İstanbul and then visited the Çanakkale Front. Uryanizade Ali Vahid Efendi has accompanied the delegation both in İstanbul and in Çanakkale, In this study the memories of Uryanizade Ali Vahid Efendi have been given with the extracts taken from the book of travel published by four Arabic newspaper owners who were in the delegation. This book was about İstanbul and Çanakkale and published in Beirut in 1916.
