Abstract

Mehmet Vehip Pasha was one of the major commanders of the Gallipoli Wars. He started to serve in the Gallipoli Wars at the end of the period in which the Seddülbahir attacks was very intense. He became one of the commanders who changed the course of the war with the new and effective methods of warfare he applied. In this respecte attracted the admiration of many German commanders. He drew attention with his professional soldierly personality and successes. Successes he gained in the Eastern Front after the Gallipoli Wars demonstrated his military skills. His services in the Italy- Ethiopia Wars and his management of the Ethiopia Army reflected in the Turkish and world public opinion as a result of his military genius. He stayed in Europe and did not joined the National Struggle and, militarily, that has not been seen as a positive behaviour. Apart from that, his connexion with opposition groups has not been approved by Mustafa Kemal and his friens and he has been expatriated. He lived last 22 years of his life abroad.
