Abstract

This paper titled "Migrations from the Balkan Countries to Ankara During the Republican Period (1923-1990)" consists of three main parts. In first part migrations from the Balkan countries to Turkey between 1923-1990 is discussed. Reasons of migrations from Greece, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Romania and number of immigrants according to country were given with a general evaluation in this part. In second part number of immigrants emigrated from the Balkan countries between 1923-1990 and settled in Ankara is given as a chart according to country. In this way the role of Ankara in general migration is evaluated. In last part Ankara's districts, towns and villages in which the Balkan immigrants were settled were listed according to country and settlement area. Houses, lands, stores, fields, vineyards and gardens allowed to immigrants were also given in detail in last part.
