Author's Guide
1. Submitting an Article
Submission of articles for the Journal of Atatürk Research Center, tracking and proceeding of all subsequent processes are carried out through the Publication Tracking System (YAY-SIS).
Authors who are not members of the system are required to sign up at https://giris.ayk.gov.tr/signup.
Authors who have completed the membership process choose Atatürk Research Center for the Institution and the Journal of Atatürk Research Center for the journal through the system to submit an article. The required information about the article and the author should be entered into the system correctly. The PDF and Word versions of the article and the Excel format of the bibliography should be uploaded.
2. Preliminary Review for an Article
Articles sent via YAY-SIS go through the following stages respectively:
2.1. Journal editor / assistant editors / editorial staff check the compliance of the article with the Publication Principles of the Journal of Atatürk Research Center according to the field of study of the institution and the scope of the journal. Articles that do not comply with the scope and publication principles of the journal are sent to the Editorial Board with a request for rejection by the editor / assistant editors / editorial staff. Articles that do not comply with the spelling rules and the citation and bibliography format specified in the journal's publication principles, although they are included in the field of study of the journal, can be returned directly to the author by the editor / assistant editors / editorial staff with a request for correction. This stage is completed in 7-15 days.
2.2. Editor / assistant editors / editorial staff send their preliminary opinions about the article and the referee suggestions they have determined in accordance with the subject area (2 main, 2 substitute referees) to the publication coordinator to be added to the agenda of the Editorial Board by specifying them in the preliminary evaluation form via YAY-SIS. The publication coordinator creates the meeting agenda.
3. The Journal of Atatürk Research Center’s Editorial Board Review
3.1. The Editorial Board of the Journal of Atatürk Research Center, convening according to the intensity of the journal's agenda, evaluates the related article scientifically and decides whether it is worth being sent to the referee, taking into account the “Preliminary Evaluation of the Article” prepared by the editor / assistant editors / editorial staff.
3.2. The Editorial Board may decide on “Correction”, “Sending to a Referee” or “Rejection” about the article after its review.
3.3. Articles sent for peer-review must receive APPROVAL from at least two referees. If one of the referee reports is positive and the other one is negative, the article can be sent to a third referee or the Editorial Board may reject the article, taking into account the available referee reports.
3.4. The authors are supposed to take into account the criticisms and suggestions of the referees and the Editorial Board for the articles sent to be published in the journal. If there are issues that they do not agree with, they have the right to object by specifying their reasons.
3.5. The author(s) who submit(s) an article for the journal is/are deemed to have accepted the referee evaluation conditions of the journal and the process thereof.
4. Publishing the Articles
4.1. An article which receives 2 “approvals” from the referees is evaluated by the Editorial Board of the Journal of Atatürk Research Center and the decision on whether it will be published or not is made. Likewise, if one of the referee reports is positive and the other one is negative, the article is sent to a third referee or the Editorial Board of the journal may reject the relevant article, taking into account the available referee reports. The articles that are decided to be published are submitted to the approval of the Executive Board of Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, and the articles approved by the board are published in an appropriate issue, taking into account their application dates.
4.2. An issue cannot include more than one article by the same author, nor can two articles by the same author in consecutive issues (if not an article series) be published.
5. Royalty Payment
The Journal of Atatürk Research Center is prepared and published using public resources. No fee is charged from the authors. Authors are paid royalties in accordance with the provisions of Copyright, Publication and Sales Regulations of Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History.
