Abstract

Secularism has been a factor in the ability of nations to reach the level of modern civilization. World history is full of bloody pages of religious fights. It is undeniable that religions and nations have suffered from this in places and periods during which religion has been used to power struggles and self-interest. The formation and implementation of the secular revolution in Turkey has not been the result of a step-by-step process as in the West. Although this principle was considered by some intellectuals and attempts were made in the late Ottoman period, it was opposed by religious exploiters, prevented and prevented as a result of bloody events. Turkey was able to emerge from a theocratic state period and come into a secular state environment only during the Republican period.
