Abstract

Professor of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts. I knew Bruno Taut more closely in 1937/38. Although not very often, Taut occasionally came to Ankara to the Ministry of National Education, and worked on other ministry construction sites, particularly the Ministry of Language, History and Geography. Taut was a calm temperament person, he spoke less, and listened a lot. Professor How Bruno Taut was appointed as the head of the Architecture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts. Besides, the emphasis was placed on bringing foreign experts not only to the profession departments of the Academy, but also to the Ankara State Conservatory and the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, and Atatürk was very interested in this issue and was frequently provided with information on the results achieved. Our student investigators in foreign countries were in an effort to search for experts of a certain nature.
