Abstract
In this article, 1946 parliamentary elections in the province of Manisa were discussed. CHP and the DP parliamentary candidates identified candidate studies. Some of the corruption and illegal election evaluated. Both parties defined 11 candidates in these elections in the province of Manisa. Among the candidates, we can see Şevket Raşit Hatipoğlu, Dr. Lütfi Kırdar, which are politically significant names of that period; besides there are Hakkı Tarık Us, İsmail Hakkı Uzunçarşılı, which are known as famous journalists of that period Before the elections, it is understood that there had been an active propaganda, a severe struggle between candidates. People listened to and evaluated the speech of candidates in propaganda areas. Although the exact nature couldn't be identified, by means of that day's newspapers and news, it is understood that there were some irregularities and malpractices in elections in Manisa as well as the other Western Anatolian cities. After this election, Manisa had 11 MPs. It seems to be out of the facility to know the number of the votes that candidates had because of the principle of open vote-secret count; as well as the official results were burnt. Probably due to the same reason, CHP had all 11 MPs in this election. DP party couldn't gain any MPs.
