First Women's Rally in Kastamonu

Abstract

As is known, World War I, which started in 1914, ended in 1918 after leaving hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded. According to the Mondros Armistice signed on 30 October 1918, our country was occupied from place to place; In places under enemy boots, the worst atrocities that human history has not recorded have been made. Our innocent people have been killed; their houses and bark are burned down; Races and honors are trampled. Ladies of Kastamonu have set up a committee to sell tickets for a movie that will be screened for the benefit of the Defense Law Society. The news on this subject was published in the copy of Açıksöz newspaper dated 19 October 1919. The women who served on this committee were probably the founders of the Women's Branch of the Defense Law Society. In this case, it can be said that the women's branch of that association was established between 27 September and 19 October 1919. Another issue that we consider very important for women from Kastamonu is the women's rally organized by them. A rally was planned to be held in order to protest the occupation of our country by foreigners and to protest the brutality there and the rally organization committee was established for this purpose.
