Abstract

The principle of national sovereignty is the foundation and constructive power of the newly established Turkish state. Sovereignty is a characteristic of state power. the highest power in domestic law (national law) and an independent power in international law. It is possible for the state to be sovereign in domestic law, that is, to hold supreme power and superior power, and to be independent in the field of international law. Sovereignty was previously used as the word dominance in our language. Sovereignty and dominance are synonyms. In the 1921 and 1924 constitutions, the word sovereignty was used in the 1961 and 1982 constitutions, as opposed to the use of the word "Dominion".
